Renji Philip is a writer and filmmaker whose work focuses on individuals under pressure—ordinary people pushed to emotional, physical, moral, or existential breaking points, and what follows.

He has written and directed both short and feature-length films, including The Wake of Light, which earned numerous jury and audience awards, was included on Greg Laemmle’s list of favorite films, and qualified for Academy Awards consideration.

In parallel with his film practice, Philip writes short fiction, essays, and criticism, often engaging with themes of memory, synchronicity, and quiet moments of extraordinary resonance. Across his work, Philip is drawn to stories shaped by motivation and consequence.

Philip’s work has been recognized by film festivals, critics, and literary publications, and he teaches and consults for emerging writers and filmmakers. He approaches teaching as an extension of practice—emphasizing clarity of intention, the power of craft, and respect for the audience.

He holds a BBA in Marketing from the University of Miami, an MFA in Writing from Lindenwood University, and studied acting in Los Angeles with Howard Fine and in New York at the Stella Adler Conservatory.
